Mike Mentzer , culturista estadounidense (nacido el 15 de noviembre de 1951). Ha sido sin duda uno de los mejores culturistas de la historia.
Se hizo profesional después de ganar el mr. universo de 1978, con una puntuación de 300 puntos, única en la historia del campeonato. A finales de 1979, Mike se impone en la categoría de pesos pesados del mr.olympia,pero perdió en la general con Frank Zane ,siendo este proclamado mr.olympia por tercera vez .
En el mr.olympia de 1980 es 4º (empatado con Boyer Coe) , 3ºFrank Zane, 2º Chris Dickerson y 1º Arnold Schwarzenegger ,con grandes sospechas por parte del resto de participantes de fraude.

Mike se retira de la competición en 1980,desarrolló su propia teoría del culturismo(Heavy Duty),se trata de que el entrenamiento con pesas, tenía que ser breve,poco frecuentes e intensos, a fin de lograr los mejores resultados en el menor tiempo posible.
Mike falleció en junio del 2001 a causa de un problema cardíaco,sorprendentemente su hermano Ray también culturista, muere 2 dias después a causa de la enfermedad de Berger.

.Mike Mentzer, American bodybuilder (b. 15 November 1951). It was without doubt one of the best bodybuilders in history.
He turned professional after winning the mr. universe of 1978 with a score of 300 points, only one in championship history. In late 1979, Mike wins the heavyweight category Mr.Olympia, but lost the general with Frank Zane, Zane was proclaimed Mr.Olympia a third time.
In 1980 is 4th (tied with Boyer Coe), 3rd Frank Zane, 2nd Chris Dickerson, 1 Arnold Schwarzenegger, with great suspicion by the other participants of fraud.
Mike retired from competition in 1980 developed his own theory of bodybuilding (Heavy Duty), it is that weight training had to be brief, infrequent and intense, in order to achieve the best results in the shortest time possible.
Mike died in June 2001 due to a heart problem, his brother Ray also surprisingly bodybuilder, dies 2 days later because of Berger's disease.
His accomplishments as a bodybuilder were many but the most important were:
